2500 units have been developed at Century City in recent years, about 20% of these were buy-to-let investors who were achieving between 5% and 12% returns
Strong demand for rental accommodation at Cape Town mixed-used precinct Century City has in recent months mopped up all supply, says Rob Downey, of Property World, the on-site agents for Century City.
Downey says there is now a serious shortage of stock. The increased demand for rental accommodation has come on the back of higher interest rates, the introduction of the National Credit Act and growing demand from the corporate market.

The new club, which is being developed at a cost of more than R60m and constructed by Stabilid (Cape), is due to open its doors in October this year
A new concept, 4000 square metre Virgin Active Exercise and Wellness Club is being constructed on a prime site at Century City. The custom-built, state-of-the-art facility is being developed on a high visibility site across Century Boulevard from the recently completed Colosseum development which offers convenience retailing and a variety of top eateries.
